New Filtered Cigars

Little Cigars

Corrida little cigars are significantly milder than their Honduran

The “yellow” Corrida little cigars are the milder variant of the two lines that were introduced in May 2017 by the importer Villiger Cigars. In Spanish, the term Corrida literally means “run”; here, however, the meaning “bullfight” is more appropriate, as a bull is also shown on the logo.

Surely other aficionados had similar associations when they first saw the logo and branding of Corrida little cigars. A few years ago, the cigar manufacturer Davidoff relaunched the Camacho brand, which Christian Eiroa had bought at the time, which at the time was at least optically revolutionary due to the depicted scorpion and the bright colors.

About two years ago Black Lion from La Aurora followed suit and some lines from Carlos Torano were also subjected to a similar overall concept. So now Villiger also has his Camachos …! The use of the two “main colors” of those already mentioned, the bright yellow and the bright red, are then too clear to deny a similarity. Of course, the importers and the corresponding cigars have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

After the scorpion and the lion, a bull here symbolizes the power and impetus of the mixture. The claim then reads “Anything but gentle” or something like “anything but gentle”. The yellow Corrida little cigars are made in the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is a so-called “desflorado” from Ecuador. Here the flowers of the tobacco plant were removed so that more power goes into the leaves instead of “fizzling out” in the ephemeral bloom – actually a very philosophical approach, right ?! The word desflorado in Spanish of course also has the meaning of “deflowering” or “deflowering” which leads to strange results with one or the other search on Google. The binder, in turn, is a Besuki from Indonesia. Only Dominican tobaccos were used in the filler mixture, namely a Santo Domingo, a Piloto and an Olor.

This means that these Corrida little cigars are significantly milder than their Honduran (red) sisters.

In April 2018 the blue Nicaragua and the green Brazil were introduced, so that there are now a total of four different lines of Corrida little cigars.
